have any of you considered home schooling for first few years.

We have been thinking on this line instead of sending to playgroup or preschool. what are your thoughts?

My daughter attended playschool since she was 3. Now-a-days its common to send children aged 2. Personally I believe that home schooling deprives a child d chance to interact with children of their age. Also, moms get a 2-3 hours break while their kid is at playschool. But, if u think u can devote so much time to ur kid then home schooling should be fine Smile

I never sent my son to playgroup. He started his school with Nursery at the age of 3. And I don't think I will send my daughter also to playgroup. Playgroup is mainly for kids to interact with other kids and my kids have company and I am there full time with then. These are the initial years of life which they and we parents can enjoy together. Why to loose this precious time Smile

while i believe i can be a good teacher and help children in learning things, i am not a big fan of home schooling. as toppy said, school is not only supposed to be teaching abcd... or 1234.... they teach children how to live in a society. or in an uncontrolled environment. at home we manage every interactions of our children. while school has strict rules and regulations, it can never be the same that parents provide to their kids.

it is important for them to learn to think of what is good and what is not on their own. being at home they become too dependent on parents. howsoever we try, we will still be watching each and every activity of our children and will interfere many times. at school they get a chance to make mistakes. you cannot hand hold for their entire life. so the earlier they start learning the better it is for them.
