Is it normal for my son to play with his genitals in public?

My 5 years old son has got into the habit of playing with his genitals. As far as he does it when he sitting alone or in room its fine and if he does not end up hurting himself in some way. Thank God he has not gone to that extent but he is really getting to that stage. The most embarrassing thing is that he has got into this habit so badly that now he keeps playing with his genitals in public.
Is this normal ? Will he grow out or should I try to help him?
Its very much normal for kids to play with their genitals but definitely its very embarrassing if he does so in public. For this you need to talk to your son and let him know that if he really want to do so it should be done in private. But another thing is you should help him get out of this habit slowly.
zamzemzun, now your son is old enough to be told that he should not do this in public. Its normal for toddler age kids to play with private parts and its fun for them. But your son is now 5 years old and he should be aware that it not a public show. But do not be strict or rude with him. Explain to him politely that he should not do this publicly and for the moment distract his attention.
