Likes to stand throughout a drive in the car...

My son is 30 months old and since the time he was 2 years old he has got the habit of standing in the car while we are on the road. Its very risky with the kind of traffic. Sometime due to sudden brake car stops suddenly and he can fall in such a situation. I know he enjoys looking at the vehicles in the road but he can do so even sitting on my lap. I have been trying to convince him but he is not ready to listen to me. Does you child also do something like this?
This is very common among this age kids. I think they enjoy seeing the vehicles on the road and also they enjoy the experience of watching things outside the car. My daughter also stand most of the time while she is in the car. Though recently she has started listening and sits down for sometime on lots of persuasion.
My son who is not even 2 wants to stand and see all the vehicles and other stuff on the way. One should see the excitement in his eyes. Seeing that I do not even feel like asking him to sit. But as its really risky for a kid to stand I do keep asking him to sit and once in a while he does listen to me.
My son does stand but sometimes. But mostly he is sitting and fine if he can see some of the things from outside world. Once in a while he really gets active then on lot of pursuing also he will not sit at all.
Activity that is what my son loves at 3 years of age also he cannot just sit idle while on drive. As he cannot stand now because he is tall now then he will kneel down and enjoy watching out.
