2.5 years old still not potty trained. What to do?

My daughter is more than 2.5 years old and still she is not telling me when she wants to poop. She will either ending up pooing in her pants or if I am around, looking at her facial expressions I guess that she wants to poop and I make her sit on the potty that to after a lot of fussing around.
This forceful potty thing puts her through a lot of stress I am wondering if I am doing the right thing. Or should I let her get used to it at her own pace...
mahika, I understand how difficult it is for you. But it's difficult for your daughter too.
I have heard potty training is one of the most difficult milestones for a kid. I guess you should first try to understand what is your daughter's problem. Is she just lazy to tell you or she realizes it only when it's too late. Kids are often so busy with their own stuff that they tend to not understand the nature's call till it is too late.
First I would like to know if your daughter feels uncomfortable being in a wet and dirty pants. First thing is that the child should have an awareness that being wet and dirty is not good.
Another thing is that she might not be finding her potty and the place where she is going for potty comfortable. May be you can get a new potty for her but do involve her in the shopping and ask her for the choice. You can also make the potty interesting by putting some interesting stickers on it.
Many kids are not ready to get trained for potty till late maybe more than 3 years of age. So, I will suggest you that please don't force your child. Try to know the reason for her dislike. May be still she is not able to master her skill s of holding onto bowel or urine till she could reach the toilet. Then you have to teach this to her first and then move onto use of potty.
My daughter also showed a lot of resistance when I was training her for potty but she definitely did not like to be wet.
I just explained to her how she can be clean and I also demonstrated to her how I used the potty everytime need to pee or poop. Infact I made the whole area she uses for potty interesting. I put some cartoon characters posters on the wall and I got one where one kid is sitting on the potty. Now she is using potty happily.
