My son is 5 year and 4 months old and still he is not able to read one full sentence properly. I am really worried. In a forum of babymomstreet itself I read that many kid can read at the age of 4, I am really concerned now. What can I do to guide my child better.

The best thing would be to take some story which interests your child and sit with him and read the story pronouncing each and every word properly. I think practice makes a man perfect and doing this everyday will be of great help for your child.

My niece is 5 years and 6 months old. About a month back she has started reading books. She was not able to read like her friends as her parents were not spending much time with her. She has got hold of the reading skills with the help of family. For six months we family member used to read some story books with her. After reading the stories we used to ask her to read on her own.

Just encourage your child and keep her moral up and your child will be able to read properly soon.

My son can read now when he is 5. But definitely he is not very fluent. I am not sure what has helped but I have been very regular with reading stories with him since his birth. Now I ask him to read along with me. There are some word he does not understand and is not able to pronounce but still trying always helps.

Giving him a topic which he taking an interest on it. Some children start late growth to picking or giving the response on many thing which happen around him. so don't worry about it

Every child has his own strength. Another thing that I feel is you as parents might not have exposed him to lot of reading from the very childhood. So, in that case he will take time.
