what type of music should we introduce to kids. recently i learnt from my sister who lives in bangalore that she plans to send her child to a play school where they teach all type of music. and that made me think won't the child get confused.
i have heard some music cd's for babies. i am not sure about the category but i found them closer to classical. rock is all noise. and it can be damaging to children.

i do not know enough to comment on this. but it is possible that these are two different things. i have seen some music cd's, which claim to help in children's development. i am not sure how we classify a music as classical. but i understand what you mean.
i think the playschool may not be trying to use music to help in children's development. instead their objective can be to teach the music and therefoe introduce the children to many different music types.
again i will repeat this is based on my limited understanding of the situation.

From what I can understand is that the play school may introduce the kids to different kinds of music just to let the kids get some ides. May be this will create some interest. Actually what I feel is that in the beginning classical music might be difficult for children to understand so better for them to experience what may appear good to their ears.
since you are talking about play group. i assume that the age will be below 3 years. for that age , it hardly matters wheter it is rap or raga as long as it's soothing to ears.
I agree with dhoom. For so young child music should be something with is appealing to his years and something which he will like to listen to for a while. It may be his nursery rhymes or some child shouting.
