My daughter will be appearing for 10th board exams in 2012 and she is putting in all her efforts. I am trying to help her in all the ways I can. Still sometimes I see her feeling low and tired. I am looking for some suggestion on how to keep my daughter in high spirits.
take her out. let her have the food that she likes most. talk about how much they believe in her and that trying to do the best is what gets success in the end. get her mind off the results. that's what worries most children. questions like "how much will i score? how good will i do COMPARED TO OTHERS? parents and neighbors are going to compare against so and so, will i be able to keep up to their expectation?" I think you should proactively answer these questions and let her know that all you care is the effort she has put in. rest no one can guarantee. you can also take your own example on how you used to work during exams.
I would suggest you what my mother used to do when I was in this state. Mom would take me for a movie and we would eat chat and popcorn which I loved. For few hours I just forgot everything and 2 of us enjoyed the moment and then I was back to studies with more enthusiasm.
Cook some eatables which your daughter enjoys and spend sometime having these together and some chit chat. Am sure this family time you daughter will have some relief from the tension.
sixmiss, This is a crucial time in your daughter's life and you are the best person to handle her emotions. Just make sure to her know that are always there for her. Never talk negative, always talk about all the good she has met in life and surely she will do better ahead. Show your confidence in her and am sure she will be in high spirits.
