In a couple of months time my daughter will be in class 1 and she will start being in school for 6-7 hours. Till now she is used to being in school for 4 hours are and she would hardly eat anything that I give in her tiffin box. She is also very tired by the time she returns home she is exhausted and she needs an afternoon nap for sure. Now that she will not e able to get anytime for afternoon nap and lunch at home I am concerned how will she adjust in the new routine.
Can I do something from now itself to help her setup in the new daily routine. Moms am sure all of you have been through this. Please suggest what I can do.
Thanks thanks.
Though I am not a mom yet but I guess it would be good idea to put a stop to your child's afternoon nap as very she will not get time for that at school. I am sure if you have something to keep her engaged she would not like to sleep. I have seen my cousin doing the same.
Do you give a proper breakfast to your child. and if yes maybe she does not feel hungry after having a heavy b'fast. If she goes to school for longer hours she will feel hungry and eat. You can try to get a feel by giving a light b'fast one day and see if she eats something in school.
And yes as suggested by tukimom do get your child out of the afternoon nap habit.
My feeling is that we do not need to adjust the child. He/ She will do it as time comes. I used to think Ashit will not be able to stay at school for a couple of hours the way he kept running around at home. But when he started going to school he made himself comfortable in a weeks time. So, just do not worry too much and let the child adjust to things as it comes.
