Should a child be taught Cursive Writing at 4 yrs of age

My daughter is 4 years old and she is being taught cursive writing in her school. I find it really too much for a kid of this age. I remember not knowing cursive writing till the age of 7 years.
When I discussed this with her teacher she said now this is what is done in most schools. Mostly kids are directly being taught cursive writing.
Would really like to hear from other parent on this front.
My elder son was taught cursive writing in PP II .e. around 4 and 1/2 years of age. Most of the schools these days are doing this itself.
from what i have heard about most schools including my son's school, they just start with writing after 3 and then continue capital letters till 4 or 5. They let it go easy for the kids. I have never heard of urgency for cursive writing at 4.
