My daughter is years old and still she is not ready to eat ready to eat regular food. If we give her rice with curry etc. she would simply not move her mouth.at all. She has been doing this since the time I have introduced solid food. Out of concern that she is not getting enough nutrition I have been mashing rice and curry and feeding her so that she does not need to chew.

Similarly I have been giving her pureed fruits and vegetables. I think I have been wrong in not forcing solid food on her. Is anyone facing a similar situation. Please let me know what can I do to make her eat regular food.

rano, 2 years is high time and if you still continue giving pureed food to your child she will never accept anything in which she has to put effort. Best way is to force her in someway. That does not mean that you have to immediately start giving only and only solid food. A way which I can suggest is give her solid starting one meal. Even if she denies just do not give her anything else. Other meals you can give her pureed food as usual.
Hope this helps.

My opinion is that this habit of your child is just because of habit. As you have already mentioned you never forced her to eat solid instead you gave her mashed & pureed food. Eating mashed food is easy for anyone and as a human nature no one wants to work harder when there is an easy way out. That is what happened with your daughter you have been giving her the easy way out and she is used to it now.

Now you got to be tough and give her solids. Maybe she will start with eating nothing slowly to a bite and this way she will definitely start eating normal food. Just make sure not to give any mashed food for the meal in which you serve solid food like rice/chapatis.

All the best.

rano, I hope you are being a little strict with your child and am sure slowly your child will get used to eating solid food.

I guess you have made situations difficult for yourself. Start now itself and in my opinion do not start directly with Roti. In that case the child will never have interest. Start with some food that you kid likes. Like if she likes banana make a Banana Pancake. And offer the food at the time when you are sure that she is hungry.
