My 3 yrs old daughter and she is so slow at eating that many of the meals she takes 3-4 hrs to finish a small amount of food. I have been trying hard to get her to eat faster. Does your child eat fast or he/she slow as my daughter.
Would like to know if you have any solution.
I am sailing in the same boat as you. My daughter is just not ready to swallow her food. She will chew the food and then just sit with it in her mouth. Most of the times I give up and grind the food in a mixer and the feed her with a spoon. But I really wonder how long can I keep doing this.
I do not think this grinding food and giving will help. My son is also a fussy eater but I try to let him eat on his own as long as he can and then I help him a little and I do keep a fixed timing for his meals. Though till now not much of success but I am doing my best.
My younger daughter who is 5 now still takes at least an hour to finish her meals. I did not have this kind of problem with my elder 2.
My 3 years old is so stubborn that she will never finish her food. Whatever I do she will not eat. Recently I have fixed a time of 1 hour, within that time whatever she eats I remove the plate and then before the next meal time I do not offer her anything. This seems to work to some extent. Sometimes she does eat more than half the amount that I give her.
My son finishes what he likes in minutes but what he does not like he can take ages to finish.
My daughter behaves similarly. She is very fast at what she loves like if I give her paneer she will finish 1 chapati within 15 mins but if I give her vegetable which she does not like she will take 2 hrs to finish a chapati.
My 20 months old daughter is a very fussy eater. She does not eat anything on her own. I have to sit with her and feed her. Infact I have to runaround with her. After each bite I will have to persuade her for atleast 5 mins to take the next bite. Then also I do not remember one meal that she would have finished her food.
But I have made it a rule not to feed her for more than an hour. I leave the left our food after and hour and then I give her the next meal after 3 hrs interval.
My son is 5 years 6 months old and still if he does not like any food he can take hours to finish. And if he likes something like Maggie, pakoras etc. he finishes in minutes. So, everything revolves around his taste buds.
Touch wood I am lucky this way. My daughter is not a fussy eater. Mostly she does finish her food within half an hour until she really hates the food given to her or the quantity is too much for her.
My 4 years old daughter finishes her Maggi in 2 mins like it takes 2 mins to prepare maggi
. But when it comes to rice and chapatti then it takes ages. Now also somehow she eats 1/2 a chapatti and few spoons of rice.
