Recently I have come to know that my son is allergic to peanuts. Though I started giving peanuts f=to my son only after the age of 3 yrs as mostly recommended but still whenever he would eat peanuts he has stomach ache. After consulting the doctor it was confirmed that he is allergic to peanuts.

Am really concerned what did I do wrong. It would be good if we could discuss our know hows about this here.

Generally its recommended not to give nuts to kids below the age of 3 years. If you do so mostly there are chances that the child will not have allergy but sometimes its hereditary as well.

If your child has been exposed to peanuts in the environment when he was a baby it can be cause for allergy. I came across an article regarding this. Will try to get back to you with more information.

These allergies are hereditary as well. Does anyone in your famly has such allergy?

I avoided peanuts during my pregnancy itself as I was told by a doctor friend that if I eat peanuts during pregnancy there are higher chances of the child getting peanuts allergy. Maybe you have had peanuts during pregnancy and it might be the reason for your child having the allergy.

My doctor friend had strictly advised me not to eat peanuts when I was pregnant and I was not sure of the reason now I am sure she wanted to make sure my baby does not have the allergy.
