My baby is 4 months old and though I am on leave as of now but I do have to visit office once in a while. My baby is on breast milk and I plan to give breast milk itself when I am away. I have heard about pumping of breast milk but am not familiar with it.

Will be great if moms could share their experience. How to pump breast milk and which kind of breast pump should I use.

There are 3 types of Breast Pump available Manual, Battery Operated & Electrical. From your need I feel that you will be using Breast Pump once in a while so its better to go for Manual or Battery Operated.

If you are pumping breast milk make sure the pumped milk is used within a couple of hours. Also you should not put it in a warm place.

For Pumping Breast milk these are a few things to keep in mind
- Make sure the pump and your hands are clean.
- The time when you use the pump, mostly should be when your breast is full.
- Find a comfortable position in which you can relax like putting your feet up

In my experience Manual is the best one.

My sister used Electrical Breast Pump and she said it was good for her as she was working and needed to pump milk thrice.

From what I have heard from my friends a Manual Breast Pump is what they go for.

I did use manual breast pump for sometime but frankly speaking I found it a tiresome job. My friend told me recently that electrical one is good but I think its costly for one who will not be using it regularly.
