My baby has a strange preference of one breast over the other. Whenever I try to feed her from the breast which she does not prefer she will just reject and not feed. She always prefers to have from one breast and I have a feeling that now that she is 3 months old it will be difficult to meet her nutritional need by just feeding on one breast.
What could be the reasons for her preferring one breast to another and how can I get her to feed from both the breasts.
You are so right my baby is just a month old but I have seen that he prefers to feed from my left breast I have also been wondering about the reason. I am trying to make him comfortable with the other breast without any success till now.
Many a times a baby prefers one breast over another because of difference in the nipple. So, the baby may like the feel of one particular breast.
Sometimes the milk flow of one breast is better than the other and in such cases baby prefers to feed from the breast which has better flow of milk.
But if the baby keeps feeding from one breast the milk production in the other breast will remain low so you need to try and keep your baby feeding on both the breasts.
My daughter always fed on my left breast. How much I tried but she did not feed on the right breast and this was only because my right breast did not produce much milk.
If your baby gets enough milk from one breast you do not need to bother I guess.
My daughter also fed from one breast but because of this I had some problems as milk was not getting accumulated and I got hard lump. First I somehow got rid of it and then I started making my daughter feed from the other breast also atleast for sometime.
