How can I tell my 4 year old about money?

My daughter has been pampered a lot and till now she has been getting whatever she asked for. Now she is 4 years old and she just keeps asking for things. I try to explain to her that we cannot buy everything for her. I am trying to tell her the importance of money. Wondering what would be the right way to explain her the value of money and how we should not spend it like that.
How about Money box. Give a coin to your child everyday and tell her that once she collect the required amount of money she can buy something she likes.
Ask your child to accompany you when you go purchasing some day to day thing or his clothes etc. Make sure he is around when you are paying the money. I am sure you might be using credit cards but for sometime try using cash for small shopping. I am sure looking at these your child will have several queries from you. Answer them properly and it will clear his concepts of money to a great extent.
