hi parents,
my child does not eat or drink properly. earlier he used to eat everything. and now it is just opposite. both my mother and my husband's mother say that "hamlogon ka nazar lag gaya hai".
Please let me know what can i do in this case. I asked them for solution. They say we should be careful about what we speak. Is there anything else we can do?

I do not believe in these things at all. I think your child might be having some health issues which is leading to this situation. Better get him checked by a doctor.

I agree with 'belly'. Don't be bothered about such things. If child has some infection, they stop eating before it shows up. Please consult a doctor. Also kids have phases and their own system. They stop eating for few days entirely sometimes and pick up again. Have you tried variety in what you serve your child? He might be bored with repeated flavors that you offer him Smile

i don't think you can disregard nazar lagna like this. all the beliefs from past are nothing but a simpler way of explaining things that may otherwise be more complex.

Like in this case i think nazar lagna is nothing but psychologically affecting a child by saying him certain things. If you tell a child that he is good at eating many times then chances are the child will respond either positively or negatively. Our parents believe that in most cases the effect is negative. This is what they explain by saying nazar lagna. you may not have to go to some saint to take care of this. But just be little more thoughtful when you interact with your child. This is just my personal opinion.

thank you all for your suggestion. even i did not believe in these things. but when it is about our child or others who we care for then we do get fearful.
even if i don't try thought of being careful while talking to them or about them comes natural after that discussion with our mothers.

I do not believe in these things but I have seen one thing if we keep praising a particular thing it does have some negative effect. So, why don't you stop discussing these things in public.

You are so right. I also feel that talking to my child may be positive/negative has effect on child's mind.
