I am planning my second child and was wondering if there is some IDEAL age difference between children. I have heard a lot about sibling rivalry and want to avoid that between my kids. Please share your views.

I don't think that there can be any "ideal" age difference. I personally feel that too many years between children would lead to lack of special bond between them and too few years would probably cause difficulties for parents. But ultimately it depends on how prepared you two are to raise a second child both emotionally and financially. As far as sibling rivalry is concerned no one can predict that. It is governed by your upbringing and on environmental factors which we cannot control.
I think the ideal age difference varies from person to person. For me I always thought that if there is less age difference then my kids will find a friend for each other. Another thing is that it will be easier for me to bring up both the kids together as may be my efficiency and strength goes down with age. There is an age diff of 2 yrs and 3 months between my kids.

This also determines the age difference between children. But of course in these uncertain times nobody has predictable finances
