Locked up in a room - thanks to my mischievous son

Yesterday was one of the eventful days. After my hubby and daughter left for office and school respectively. I was busy arranging things in my room while my 2 years old son was playing in his room. Suddenly I heard my door being closed by the time I could react my son had locked it from outside.
I tried to talk to him to open it but he also panicked and started crying. I was clueless what should be done. I did not have my mobile phone also with me. Somehow after half hour of effort I could calm down my son talking to him. Then I asked him to open the door he said he could not. Slowly I told him how did he close it could he try the other way round. God to my surprise he did the job. I really wonder if he did not open the door what would have happened.

Has anyone else out here faced something similar.

Ha ha ha
This sounds something similar. When my daughter was 17 months old she had locked me up in the bathroom. Luckily I had my mobile with me and my husband had a spare key to our main door. But still it took about 1 hour before I could come out of the bathroom. I am still scared of the mental state I was in for that duration. And in that time my little daughter had cried her heart out.

I do not remember the exact incidence but yes my daughter did something similar when she was about 2 years old. And as that time we were living in a colony I somehow managed to call my neighbor who managed to break the front door lock and come in. We had to get our front door repaired that very day.

Good that I came to know that children could be so adventurous.
I better be careful now onwards as my daughter is in the same age group.

Personally I have not though such a situation. But one of my friend was locked up in her kitchen by her toddler and her husband was also out of town. Luckily she had her mobile with her so she called me up for help. I had to go there with some carpenter who helped us to open the door. When I got inside her child was all in tear. She was so scared as she could not find her mom and she did not realise what she had done.
Kids love exploring things so its we adult who need to be alert.

I remember getting into such circumstance once when my younger daughter was about 2 years old. The main door of the house had to be cut and we had to get new one done. My daughter also got sick after this because I think she was shocked and kept crying for 2 hrs till she found me out of the locked room.

Thankfully I have not gone through any such thing till now.
Thinking of preparing myself for such situation, but does any preparations work?
