Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)

One of my friends recently lost her two month old perfectly healthy baby. Doctors said that it was a SIDS case. We were all shocked as we had never heard of such a thing and the baby had no medical issues. I wanted to raise this topic here so that parents can be aware and can take necessary precautions. If any of you know the reasons/precautions please share. Thanks!
I am so sorry for your friend's loss. Stand by her side I am sure at this time she needs friend. I have heard and read about SIDS but never come across anything in person. So, cannot tell anything more than what you may find anywhere on the net.
About 2 years back one of my friend lost her baby who was perfectly healthy within a month of his birth. I do not know what was the problem, but she also told me that the doctor told her that there is something called sudden death of an infant.

Thanks for sharing this information. I was never aware of any such thing. Its so weird that without any health issues your friend lost her baby. May Allah give her all the strength.
I have heard about SIDS from my cousin who is a pediatrician but never came across anyone in person who had to face such loss. May God give strength to the mom who had to go through this loss.
I have heard that many a times SIDS may be due to baby sleeping on tummy or on side
Sometimes premature birth could be the cause for sudden death of the baby.
Sleeping position of the baby can also cause SIDS. Many a times baby sleeping on her stomach or on her side may have to go through bad consequences so be sure to make your baby sleep on her back.
Sometimes some discrepancy during prenatal care can also cause SIDS. Sometimes moms moms less can 20 yrs of age can cause SIDS. Also smoking or drug consumption during pregnancy can lead to SIDS.
I knew about SIDS but was not aware that some miss in prenatal care can also lead to it. Thanks for sharing this info.
