With the IPL going on. My hubby away makes our son sit with him to watch the matches. And I think its not good for him to watch TV for so long duration. My hubby says that watching these matches our son will be interested in playing the sport.
Is it really true....

sure it will.
this is not based on my personal experience but based on what i hear from my husband.
he said that he started playing tennis only because he used to watch tennis when he was young. his argumengt is that indians love playing cricket because that is the only sport all of us watch most of the times.

here is what i think.
children will start liking a particular sports more if they have a star to follow. like let him find a star that he can follow. it can be Sachin tendulkar (easy one) or Yuvraj sigh, MS Dhoni or shane warne. once he has a star chances are he would want to be like him. this is a very good way to create interest in any partucular sport.

very good point brotherjohn.
following an idool is what every one does. most often those idols are movie stars. if we can make our child have a sports start as their idol then they may start taking interest in the game that he plays.

following a good playeralso helps in learning the game better. in case of cricket, children learn some of good strokes if its a bowler and line and length if its a bowler. same goes for other sports.
