My son's 2nd Birthday is approaching and I am not sure how should I celebrate his Birthday. For his 1st Birthday we were at my parent's place where my parents did arrange a grand party for him. This is the first time that we will be celebrating his Birthday.

My hubby wants to give a party at some hotel where he is thinking of calling all his colleagues and other relatives. But my vies is that we should have a party for all the kids only. Most of the kids that are living in our Apartment complex and some more friends.

Which one will be better?

I am sure kids enjoy partying with kids. Just having a grand party does not mean anything to them. If they have kids to enjoy with then thats the party for them. And off course there should be a lot of their favorites to eat Smile

Many kids love attention and have fun getting a lot of gifts. If your son likes all these then go ahead and have a grand party. I am sure your son will enjoy it and he will enjoy opening his gift for days to come. Smile

You can have both in one party. Have a grand party as your hubby wishes. And in the party invite all the families with kids of your sons age. This way your son will enjoy the company of kids and you 2 can also be happy.

Recently we did throw a grand party for my nephews 3rd birthday and it turned out to be a sad day for him. He does not like crowd and seeing a lot of crowd he got cranky and he kept crying and hitting someone or the other the whole time. So, neither he nor the family could enjoy.
I have seen mostly kids of this age do not seems to enjoy adult's company. So, if you son does not enjoy crowd go for a small party with kids. This he will enjoy and that is what you would want.

At this age kids don't like crowd so it will be better to have a party at home or in an indoor play area for kids or maybe an open lawn. Mostly invite few of your friends with kids and a couple of kids of your son's age along with parents.
Maybe if you really want to party you can have separate late night party for friends when your kid is asleep.

buy few big packets of chocolates. and let them distribute it to kids at your apartment and also to kids at his school.

Thanks a lot for your thoughtful suggestions.
We have planned to have a party in a open children play area kind of place. And we will keep the party for a small group with children of my son's age/
