My 3 months old baby has been snoring. I have been hearing her since birth. In the beginning I did not pay much attention. But now it really concerns me if it is normal. Or could it be something serious?
i have seen many kids snore. In fact my daughter also snores. Though it is not so loud nbut she she does it often. I have asked doctor, while taking her for other problems. But they said that I should not worry. But if it is too loud and you find it concerning then please consult a doctor. I value both doctor's and opinion of members on communities like this.

Snoring is common but it is never normal for anyone. It is also common among children. But it is definitely caused by certain abnormality. I don't mean something abnormal in the child. But abnormal in health condition. So going to doctor is suggested rather than thinking that it will get better on its own. That way children recover from fever, cough and cold on their own. But we seek medical attention to ensure that the causes are properly diagnosed and recovery happens soon.
Snoring means he is not able to breath normally. therefore his oxygen intake will be affected. This may make him feel little tired. He may not have good sleep. And this is bound to affect his energy level the next day. visit a good doctor, who will not just offer medicine but will try to understand the cause and help you take remedial action accordingly. The remedial action may not be medicine. It can be better sleeping condition or different food habits.
all the best meerarani.
Young babies are noisy breathers as their airways are narrow and has secretions and as the air passes through the secretions it makes different sounds. As the baby grows the airway matures and the snoring will decrease. But if the snoring persists or increases consult the pediatrician.
Baby snores due to many different reasons which includes cold, allergy, tiredness etc. If the snoring is occasional nothing to be worried about but if it is regular you need to check with an ENT specialist. Many a times it can be due to infection.
My baby is also making similar sounds these days but mom says its normal as in winters due to her nose being blocked once in a while its normal to get such sounds as the nasal passage narrows.
My daughter is 4.5 years old and she still snores when she has cough and cold and she has blocked nose. She has been having this problem since she was a baby.
