I have problem in my eyes since childhood. I do not remember if it was from birth. Have very high power. I have been wearing heavy spec since I was a kid. Though now times have improved and am using contact lens, I am really worried if this thing can be hereditary.
Can the eye problem be carried to my son. My son is about 19 months old is there something that can be done to help him to prevent any such problems.
disclaimer- my comments are not based on any scientific report.
but i have seen many of my friends who wear specs has one of her parents with specs. so it appears that this does reflect in some form to the next generation.
like i said this is not based on any scientific report.
ahana,
Its true that certain eye problems are handed down from parents to their children. Myopia or nearsightedness and Hyperopia or farsightedness have a strong genetic component. There are great chances that your child will have these conditions especially if your husband also has the condition.
preeti & Shweta thaks a lot for your input. My hubby does not have any eye problem so I will keep my fingers crossed hoping my child does not get my prob.
Anything that I can do to prevent it?
