My son is 17 months old now and he has been sucking his thumb since he was born. Till now I have been thinking that he will stop this as he grows. But now it seems I have to do something.
Any ideas from ladies out here.
My son had a similar habit though mostly he told thumb in his mouth when he went to sleep. I put band aid on his thumb for a few weeks. Just kept changing the band aid each day thrice.
Since he did not like the feeling or taste of band aid in his mouth he would not take his thumb in his mouth.
Now he has got rid of the habit.
My sister's daughter had a similar habit and neem oil worked for her.
My sis applied neem oil on her thumb for about 2 weeks and it did the magic. Because of the bitter taste my niece got rid of thumb sucking.
Keep your child's hand busy in some activity like playing with toys, puzzles or some other activity. Another thing that you can try is award your child for his good habit. If he does not suck his thumb for a specified duration give him something he likes, it need not be a expensive thing. It can be a chocolate a crayon or some other small thing.
Rub chili on the thumb I am sure thumb Sucking will be gone.
