Reason for white spot on child's face

Recently I saw that my daughter has somehow got a white spot on her right cheek. Within a couple of weeks I have observed that the spot is spreading. What could be the cause for this. Should I take her to a dermatologist?
Please suggest.
Have you been giving medicine for worms regularly. that could be one of the reasons. you may want to get stool test done and visit a local doctor if this has to do with worms. i know worms does cause white mark.
ritu is right my daughter also had similar spots on her face and on a friend's suggestion I gave her medicine for worms and the spot went off slowly.
Many a times this is an indication of lack of calcium. Get it tested consulting a doctor.
Hope things get fine soon.
Recently a neighbor's child had similar problem and the doctor told that it was a fungal infection. He gave some ointment to be applied. I think you will not be able to know the reason without tests better to goto a doctor and get it cured.
It could be Fungal infection and in that case Homeopathy is the best remedy.
My daughter has got twice till now and every time medicine for worm has helped.
