When should I get my daughter's ears pierced?

My daughter is 11 months old and since she was 6 months old my in laws has been asking me to get her ears pierced but I am really scared to get her ears pierced when she is till a baby.
Now my family insists to get the piercing done on her 1st birthday. Is it a good idea? When did you moms get your daughter's ears pierced?

I don't think you need to hurry for this. Those are old customs to get the ears pierced at an early age.
