Next month we are planning to visit home for Ganesh Chaturthi. My husband suggested to take a flight. I will be traveling alone with my 5 months old daughter. Wanted to know if its safe for this age baby to travel in a flight.
And what precautions should I take when travelling with her.
After 2 months you can fly with your baby until and unless she has any health issues. But before plying make sure you consult her pediatrician if she is healthy and ready to take a flight.
Since you will be taking the flight with your baby for the first time make sure you have some baby gears handy with you to entertain the baby. You should be ready to deal with unexpected behavior of your baby between strangers.
I had a very bad experience in my first flight with my son when he was 3.5 months old. He had no health issues but I do not why he just kept crying. Thankfully the flight was 2 hrs, I would not have been able to bear any more crying. As soon as we came out of the airplane he was fine. God knows what happened to him.
Keep one thing in mind, feed the baby while take off and landing to ease the ear pressure.
Babies are very unpredictable and since flight would be the first time experience for him its very uncertain about how he will behave. So, be ready for any and everything. Like keep toys which will entertain him. Make sure to keep a small blanket in which he will be comfortable.
A 5 months old can have some problems at height. So make sure with a doctor what precautions you should take. In my knowledge you should always feed your baby when the flight is taking off and landing.
Thanks a lot for your valuable inputs.
Will try to follow things specified by you all.
