Will heater have some adverse health affect ?

My son is just 5 months cold and its very cold out here I have been using a room heater to keep his room warm. But recently one of my aunt visited us and she was telling me that this will have bad affects on my baby;s health.
I am really concerned if its true.
I am not aware of any such health hazards due to use of heater. But one thing is there anything that is not natural definitely does have some adverse effects. And we are living is such a scientific world so why worry. But still because its something to do with your baby do confirm with others.
I have been using heater for my son since his birth as he was born in winter. I don't think so it caused any problems. Now also its very cold and I am keeping him near the heater. May be the problems are due to excess use. Thats true for anything.
Recently I came across some article in the newspaper that suggested that its not good for health to be in front of heater the whole day. But this was not specific for babies it was for adults as well.
I am really concerned if its true.
really appreciate if you could post more details. one of the adverse effect i can think of is change of temp that children may have go through. if you put him under heater and then chances are you will have to bring him in places where there is no heater. 5 months boy may not be able to keep up with this change. otherwise when you think of babies in cold countries, they are always under heaters.

well sure it shows bad effects and i think we should avoid over use of that.
