Recently one of my relative came to visit us. She saw that my son has a disturbed sleep and he sleeps for shorter duration compared to kids of his age. While discussing this she told me that proper sleep is also necessary for good growth in kids.
Is this true and if so I would like to know how is sleep related to growth.
A proper sleep is very important for everyone, kids as well as adults. But definitely for children its very very important. There are many reason for it like children need to regain their energy which they can get with sleep and another thing is that during sleep their brain connections build up.
And one point which we should not miss on is that it gives we moms some free time
Kids who do not have proper sleep shows less concentration and their motor skills are also affected. So, for the kids to have a normal developments its very important that they do have normal and sound sleep.
I have read some articles that says that proper sleep helps in good growth among children. There is a human growth hormone that is released entire day, but for small children these hormones release is most intense when they are in deep sleep.
So, children who have a required hours of sleep without disturbance tend to show better growth.
If the kids are not sleeping properly then this could affect their whole system. Lees sleep can cause changes in the level of hormones in the system affecting normal feeding and metabolism of the body which inturn can definitely effect the growth.
Sleep is very important for your child. Its as important as food. Children need appropriate hours of sleep for their brain to develop properly and proper growth. Every sleep is important for the body and for children researches has shown that less sleep may hamper growth.
