hi friends,
I have been trying to be pregnant for last 6 months. The reason I am writing here because I have not been successful. I went to doctor and doctor did tests. He told that i have hypothyroid. He also said that it is not very severe. But I have heard that thyroid related disorder affects chances of pregnancy? How sesrious is it?
ThankYou
Hypothyroidism is a condition in which there is deficiency of thyroxine hormone which may make it harder for one to get pregnant but definitely not impossible. As a friend of mine did have hypothyroidism and she has 2 kids as of now.
Hypothyroidism does lead to irregular ovulation which in turn effects fertility. But if you start taking the medication regularly you will be able to conceive.
You need to treat hypothyroidism before planning for baby. As thyroid is responsible for lots in our body and hypothyroidism could lead to miscarriage you need to put it on track. My sis-in-law had hypothyroidism and she did have problems conceiving till she was on medication and her thyroid functions were in control.
I am having hypothyroidism and it was detected only when I thought for a baby. I went for medication and after taking Eltroxine it took almost a year for me to conceive.
