I have some problems in conceiving so currently I am taking some fertility medicine. My friend told me other day that with these treatments there are high chances of having twins. Is it right. If so is there anyway I can prevent this?
I have heard that chances of having multiples increases if one goes through fertility treatment. Though I am not sure what is the percentage of chance. But I have come across few women who took some fertility medicine and still has a single child.
My cousin did go through treatment and then she conceived twins but she lost one of them while delivery. She told me that doctor did tell her that if she takes on the treatment the chances of her having multiples will increase.
So, I guess there is truth in it.
Fertility medicines like clomid do increase the chances of multiples. But the chances are not as high as we think of. Its more of a hype. Because these days a lot of women do opt for these treatments but I have not seen everyone ending up with twins/multiples.
These treatments do increase the chances of multiples, at least thats what I have heard of.. But obviously that cannot be for everyone. But incidentally I have a friend who had some fertility treatment but did not have multiples
I have heard that about 10% of the women going through fertility treatment have multiples. So, the percentage does seem to be high otherwise I guess mostly twins/multiple birth is hereditary.
