Hi All,

Arguments are a part of a married life. I am a kind of person who will agree with any person point of view only after I know their reasons well. My married life has been full of arguments. I have been worried if this could have bad affects on my child. Now my elder son is 5 years old and definitely he can understand things. Till now we have been thinking that he is a kid and won't understand. Though we have been trying hard to keep out arguments away from kids but still sometimes it happens.

Will really like to know from moms out here how do you avoid arguments in front of your kids and if you have one in front of them how do you explain it to them.

Thanks

Kangana,
You have brought a problem which is quite common in Indian homes. I don't have kids yet but me and my husband discuss this issue. Frankly, I think that your basic assumption that your kid was too young to understand the arguments was not correct. You should have tried to control these so that by now things were better. Since it is difficult to change one's nature immediately, you should start by having a consensus that all these discussions should take place after your son has gone to bed. Doing this will not be as simple as it sounds, and you will need support from your better half. But its definitely worth the efforts.

i think it is difficult to explain such things to kids. and even if you could explain, the fact is that it will form an impression on them and wil have effect on their thinking.

so the best is to avoid if you can.

kids, these days, are very smart. you don't have to speak in front of them. they can listen from far and understand the mood really well.

Its true that arguments should be avoided. But, in case there is a need for some explanation you should tell your son that although mom and dad had an argument, they still love each other and are still friends Smile It is important for kids to know that everyone at home loves each other.
