I have been on leave for 6 months after having my baby. I joined work in July but in last one month I have seen that my son is not able to adjust without me. Though I do go back home once to feed him and am available for him in the evenings. I have been thinking of taking another 6 months leave, maybe unpaid one. I would like to know what all are the conditions and also is it possible that I loose my job?

I was on a year of unpaid leave and did work from home for sometime. I think a paid leave can be a problem for the employers but not the paid leaves. Go ahead and talk to your employer. You can even give them an option that you can work from home.

Most of the employers in India are understanding and they do agree for an unpaid leave. But make sure that you keep in touch and do some work offsite so that you are in touch of your employers. Sometimes such a long break can hamper your career.

For me it became difficult to get along leave so I left my previous job and as of now I am working from home for some hours. This suits my career aspirations as well as I am able to take care of both of my kids.

My sister did work from home for a year but definitely will a lower salary. And she has to go to her workplace once in a while when needed.

Its always better to work from home if its an option at all. Being away from work can hamper you professionally.

Good news my employers have agreed with me working from home. Though they have a condition that I need to be in office sink twice in a month to have work in sink with my colleagues.
