I am blessed with an angel on 10th Nov and my mil has been asking me to be st in my room for 20 days. Now I do not believe in these. I have been arguing with her and asking for reasons and her ans is just that they have been following this traditionally.

Ladies do you accept this system and can anyone explain the reason for this to me.

I do not think its right think to do but still to keep obey my elders I have been abiding by their so called confinement rules to a great extent.
My mom says this is done for good health of both mom and baby.

My younger one is 7 years old and at that time also I really did not heard t believe in this confinement. I did stay at home for a couple of weeks but not as per rule but for my health. Mostly I have heard of ladies being confined to their rooms and not being allowed o enter kitchen and all and I am totally against it.

I was also asked to stay home by my parents and inlaws but they never restricted me to a room or for any work inside the house. They just made sure that I took proper rest and they felt that going out and all may exert me. I enjoyed the care and love that I got so do not have any complaints.

These days most of the the ladies live in nuclear family. In such situation its difficult to abide by such rules. We need to do our daily chores so we cannot be confined to our homes. I agree that our elders have these rules so that mom can have some rest and spend time with the baby. But I think that in these time it is difficult to do this.

Thanks ladies for sharing your views. Really strange but yes in one way it might be for our good so am at home itself for last 1 month apart from visits to doctor.

Confinement gives some rest to new mom and for the baby to get adjusted to the new world.
