What should I do as am anemic?

I am in the 12th week of my pregnancy and due to lots of symptoms like weakness, pail skin etc. my doctor got my blood test done and we found that I am anemic. Though my doctor has given some iron supplements and advised accordingly.

I would need your help on what precautions I should take, what should I eat and anything else I should know.

I was also anemic during pregnancy. Its good that you discovered it early. Mostly after 20 weeks the iron requirement of a baby increases. You have enough time to make it up.

From now on eat iron rich food and definitely take the iron supplement given by your doc till he asks you to.

During pregnancy we need twice the amount of iron per day compared to what we need normally. Since, you are already anemic try taking rest and eat a lot of iron rich food like, red meat, spinach etc.

Eat a lot of green leafy vegetable and other iron rich food.

My relatives suggested me to eat peanuts with jaggery and also a sweet called ravri in our place which is made of jaggery and sesame seeds.

this is not uncommon. with some iron supplements you will be alright.

You can have amla murabba or amla nimki. Actually if you eat dried amla that is also good. Amlo is supposed to be rich in iron and vitamin C and vitamin C assists in proper absorption of iron in the body.
