Hi ladies,
We have often heard people advising pregnant women to eat well, think well and stay free from any kind of mental tension. I want to know whether mental stress can actually lead to miscarriage. And also how can it affect the baby in the mother's womb.
Definitely. Mental stress or emotional trauma can lead not only to miscarriage but also pre-mature delivery.
We always hear our elders say that one should stay cheerful and think good when pregnant. This affects the mom as well as the baby. I am sure if the mental stress is too much it can end up in miscarriage. I have heard of women ending with preterm labor because of mental stress.
Tension and stress is not good for any person and when you are pregnant you are going through a lot of changes in physical body tension and stress can just aggravate things. A friend of mine had 2 miscarriages because of tension. She was perfectly fine apart from the tensions going on in family and that was the main cause of her loss.
Recently I came across an article which stated that women with high level of physical or emotional stress in the early months of pregnancy have greater chances of miscarriage.
Infact stress before conception can also be risky. So, you should definitely reduce the stress factor from the time you are planning for a baby.

Due to my work i had to go through stress during pregnancy and because of this I have been through bad times. Doctor strictly advised me to take a break as if I continued I may end up in a miscarriage. I did quit my job to have a happy pregnancy. So, mental stress is a big NO during pregnancy.
