My mil insists that I should spend sometime each day listening to some pages of Bhagvad Gita. According to her listening to these good words will help in better development of my baby. Really wondering if this is really true or just a myth which our elders believe in.

I do not know about what effect it has on the baby but my mother did read a page of some religious book for me and what I experienced is that I felt like for sometime I had peace of mind and soul. Maybe this in itself would be good for me and the baby.

Whatever our elders say definitely has some values. I did listen to Bagavad Gita throughout my pregnancy. I also read some books which has thoughts of various well known people. I feel that when a woman is pregnant her positive and good thoughts does definitely add to the development of the baby.

Our elders recommend to read some religious scriptures and to meditate as this encourages good thoughts and peace of mind for the mom to be and inturn for the fetus.

During pregnancy see good pictures and listen to good things and music for the baby to be smart and intelligent on birth.

You can read Bagavadgita and some slokas for good thoughts.

I know that this is a very old thread but would like to share my idea on this topic. My feeling is that religious thoughts are always good. During pregnancy listening to such good thought makes one feel at peace and gives inside happiness.
