I delivered my first child who is now an year old by c-section. Now I am expecting my second child and am really interested in giving vaginal birth this time. What are the chances that I can do this. Any mom with this experience.

From my knowledge vaginal delivery after having a cesarean is very risky for the baby and mom both. Mostly its suggested to have a cesarean only after you have had one.

Vaginal Birth After Cesarean, VBAC, is not as risky as it was thought earlier but the risk is higher than for a repeat cesarean delivery. However, repeat cesarean delivery also carries some risk. The risk for infection and other surgical complications appear to be greater in women undergoing repeat cesarean delivery compared to those who are successful with a vaginal birth after cesarean delivery.

It is important that your doctor supports the idea of the vaginal delivery and also the hospital / nursing home should be well-equipped to carry out a c-section in case such a need arises.

These days I have heard of people going for vaginal birth after having a c-section. But I am not sure how many doctors will suggest so. Its much more riskier than having another c-section.

My doctor strictly asked me not to go for vaginal birth for my second son as I delivered my first child by c-section. But definitely it was 5 years back.

Time has changed and lots of new technologies are coming out. So, may be now its possible.
