How long does is normally take to deliver the baby

With my due date nearing am getting questions in my mind regarding baby birth. This is my first baby and I am really worried. Once I am in labor and go or delivery how long does it take for a normal woman to deliver the baby. And is there some cause for concern if it takes longer than the the optimum time for delivery.
A friend of mine was in pain for 24 hours before she had normal delivery. Though have not gone through it personally have no idea.
Once you are in full contraction it will not take more than 2 hours if everything goes without any complication.

It took about an hour in case of my delivery.
