I am going to be 33 and am in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. I am wondering if I should opt for C-section rather than waiting for normal delivery. Someone told me that at late age it is difficult to have a baby through normal delivery.
What does you all experience say regarding this.
Normal delivery is good in most cases. But as your age is a factor it would be best to go with what the doctor has to say. Put all your queries in front of the doctor and am sure he/she will have answers which will help you decide.
With C-section you may have to suffer throughout because of the stitches. I would always suggest to go for normal delivery if there is no risk for the baby or you.
I have heard that with age normal delivery becomes difficult because of various complications that may arise. So, I would suggest if the doctor is suggesting C-Section then you do opt for it instead of trying for a normal delivery.
The best way is to go by doctor's suggestion. But still make sure to consult more than one doctor to know their opinion on what should you do.
With age the chances of having a baby by C-section increases. This is mainly because with age complications in pregnancy increases. There are higher chances of having breech babies or multiples (due to infertility treatment) with age leading to C-section. There are some illnesses like gestational Diabetes and high blood pressure which happens during pregnancy and the chances are higher at later age. These may also lead to C-section.
And mostly in case of complications doctor also do not want to take a risk of vaginal delivery.
Most of the friends and relative whom I come across has always suggested me to opt for vaginal delivery rather than going for elective C-section. I am rather scared of the pain that I might have to go through in vaginal delivery but still as people say C-Section can create problems trhoughout life.
If there are some complications definitely I will suggest you to not wait for the last minute to take the decision. Discuss all the pros and cons with your doctor and then accordingly decide.
Now C-section has become very common. It is upto you to decide. I think doctors are ever ready to do that as they do not want to take even 1% chance and off course this way they make more money.
Will wait for normal delivery till I can and if the doctor is ok with that. Hope to have a delivery with all the best wishes.
