i have heard and read stories about baby being born at 20-25 weeks and recovering to be perfectly healthy child.
what about the mothers? i would assume this should not matter much to the mother. my husband doesn't think so. his opinion is that mother's body was not ready to deliver so something has to be readjusted in mother's body. he is no doctor
he was just applying his common sense. but that did make me thinking.
are there any risks to the mother in such cases? what are the complications that may arise due to premature delivery?
Personally I have never heard any complications with the mothers. But your husband's reasoning does make sense
. I guess ppl are so full of their new born premature baby that the mother's health often tends to get unnoticed.
As far as I know babies born before 24-25 weeks have very very low chances of survival as they are not mature enough to survive. Even babies born after 25 weeks need long intensive care to survive. This is the information that I got from my doctor.
As far as I know this should not have some major effect on the mothers health physically, apart from mental tension about her baby.
I don't think that mom should be affected in anyway apart from normal things that all moms face at the time of delivery. Though definitely she might have concerns for her baby which will give her tension leading to some physical issues.
I am not sure of the medical facts but leftright I think your husband is right. The changes a woman's body goes through. Definitely if something out of routine happens to her body she will have to go through physical and mental turmoil.
The thought of premature delivery itself make me worry. I am sure it will have some adverse effects on the mom though it is nothing compared to the baby. But with the baby the moms life is affected as I know what emotional bonding mom develops with her baby in the time she is carrying her baby in womb.
With premature delivery the baby has to be in intensive care and the percentage of survival depends on how premature the baby is. along with the baby the moms whole life is at stand still till her baby is safe. With all these mental and emotional things going on definitely mom will take time to recover from her physical stress of delivery.
I agree with everyone saying that premature delivery will cause mothers going thru lot of mental strain. But leftright, I think your husband meant to inquire about the physical adjustments in the mother's body after premature delivery. For that I think lot of times the premature delivery is because of premature labor which can be due to many reasons. In such cases, delivering prematurely is the 'adjustment' that needs to be done. After this the body of the delivering mother is the same both in case of premature or full-term delivery.
