My mother-in law keeps telling me not to eat certain food during my pregnancy and I follow her advices. But I am wondering if there is some basis of those advices. I could not eat any wood-apple ('bel') during summer as I had just discovered about my pregnancy. Can u ppl tell me the foods I should avoid?

and the sad thing is that after the delivery somehow i lost my taste for pineapple Sad

how can i identify sea food that are high in mercury. i was reading the other forum where many said that fish is good for baby development. i think i have heard similar opinion from other sources as well.

is there any specific fish that has high level of mercury?

i cannot say if mercury level varies based on different variety of fish.

but one thing i know the dirtier and polluted the water more will me mercury in it. And any fish from such sources will in turn have more mercury. So avoid fish if you are not sure of sources.

Sorry joybaby for my late response.
I do not know exactly which fish to avoid, but the mercury level is high for big and older fishes such as shark. On the other hand shrimps are safe to eat as they have lower level of mercury. But in all cases, I was advised to have limited quantity of fish during my pregnancy.
Hope this is useful!
