I am into 7th month. I have been through number of tests including many of those ultrasounds. And i have paid a lot to the doctors for the rests and the visits.
In the end these tests does not lead to any special post-pregnancy treatment. SO what is the use of these tests.
blood test was the only one that makes sense to me or probably even to the doctors. based on the result my doctor suggested appropriate diets and supplements.
Sometime i think this is just a a way of making money by the doctors.
i am really interested in knowing if any of you have been helped by the outcome of the tests in anyway.
thank you,
gkmittal
same feeling here.
i do not trust anything that the doctors say. most of the time i find their intention is to make morre money.
pl. use your own jujdgement and now depend entirely on doctor's opinion. even better if you know someone who is doctor. even if she is not in the same city you can speak to her over the phone before making any decision.
my cousin's wife is a gyno. but she is of the type who wants to go by the book. when i ask questions to know the reason for any test or medicine she thinks that i am doubting her and other doctors.
may be my way of asking questions may not be polite. but i don't know how to be more polite. i am very confused.
Hi All,
I do agree that these tests are quite expensive. But the ultrasound is done to study movements such as fetal heart beat and malformations in the fetus. The size and growth of the fetus is also known through the ultrasounds. So I will advice you not to stop these tests until you have been advised by a doctor that the test is not compulsory. What option do we mothers have but to trust the doctors!!!!!!!!!
completely agree with joybaby.
we have better understanding of fetal development, these days, due to these tests.
We have become more aware of what to do and what not to. Therefore accidents are not as common as in old days. Probably that makes us feel that these tests are not needed. But we forget that our behavior during these 9 months is guided by what doctors have to say. And doctors don't just make wild guesses anymore. their opinion is based on what they are able to see based through ultrasound and what the blood and other test reports have to say.
I understand the sentiments of gkmittal. We, mothers, do not want to take any chance in this case. And sometime we feel that the doctors are taking advantage of this fact.
I personally feel there are three kids of doctors.
1) It is true that some of the doctors do use fear as a technique to get more out of our pockets.
2) Doctors who are too lazy and think that why not get all tests done before opening their mouth. After all it does not hurt their pocket.
3) Doctors who think about patient as someone who is in need of advice from an experienced person and would like to walk out of her clinic happy. Such doctors also understand that the how much we spend is a critical factor that will determine our happiness once we walk out of her clinic.
IN the end we all pray that we get to meet the 3rd type of doctors.
Personally I have seen that knowing the doctor personally helps.
