Hepatitis B test during pregnancy

Is it really required to get the hepatitis B test done during pregnancy. I am in the 5th month of my pregnancy and my gynecologist has asked me to get the Hepatitis B test done. I want to know whats the use of this test and should I get it done.

I am also going to start my 5th month and my doctor has asked me to get the Hepatitis B test done. I will surely get it done as I have heard that hepatitis B can be passed on to the baby and if detected properly, required actions can be taken.

I did take the test a couple of weeks back. I do not see any harm in taking the test.

Hepatitis B passes on to the baby if the mom has it so why take a chance do get the test done.
