its been 10 weeks now.
what all tests should i get done at this time. i think there are some tests designed to check overall health of baby. i am not very confident if it is done now or later.
any opinion from past experiences please?
5 more weeks.
only after 15 weeks doctors do such tests.
if i am correct, you are referring to a test called AFP (not sure of the name). but this is done to test for down syndrome. mainly doctors want to test the risk to mother's life in case she is carrying a baby with down syndrome.
this is not common in india. i had my son outside of india where i went through this test. my daughter was born in india. and my doctor, also a family friend, never recommended any such test.

yes there are many tests and most of them can be done in india.
most of these tests are carries out during 12th to 20th weeks except for CVS, which can carried out anytime after 8th week.
but I would strongly recommend against CVS, which is done on a sample of placenta.
in fact what id you age? if you are below 35 years than you should not even be thinking about such things. it is not common below age of 35 years.
I did not go through any test at this stage apart from the regular routine checkups. As dimpy said most of the tests for the health of the fetus is done 2nd trimester onwards. So, relax and eat well.
Only a test known as CVS is done at this stage and its not very common. Mostly its taken by women who get pregnant at a late age and those who have the risk of their baby having some genetic disease.
don't go for any invasive test unless it is really really needed.
also if the test is not very common then chances are that teh doctors will not have good practice of doing such test. and i don't have to tell you about the expertise of their staffs.
I got a nuchal translucency test done. Its a screening test for down's syndrome. Its a non invasive test. Its a combined test in which a blood test is done at around 10 weeks and then a NT scan 1-2 weeks later.
